The intent of my thesis project focuses on how immigrants acclimatize to a new Canadian life by shaping their new identity, in my case Korean Canadian. This pavilion is designed to host a citizenship ceremony and to celebrate the meaningful moment. The relationship between site and building is to represent immigrant‘s journey as it echoes back the image of immigrants from history who reached this land by boat which creates a visual metaphor. Also, the design of building reflects on challengeable immigrant‘s new start, a threshold. In addition, this building is a physical representation of immigrants to regenerate their sense of belonging, identity and to find their footing as independent citizens of this country.
